MS Dhoni achieved a significant milestone in the IPL on Sunday, April 28, becoming the first player in history to register 150 victories in the tournament. This landmark came after a dominant performance by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who convincingly defeated the SunRisers by 78 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

A stalwart of the IPL since its inception in 2008, Dhoni has featured in 259 matches, cementing his status as one of the most successful captains with five titles to his name. This season, Dhoni passed on the captaincy duties to Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Dhoni’s record-breaking achievement places him at the summit of individual success in the IPL, surpassing the previous records held by Ravindra Jadeja and Rohit Sharma, both with 133 victories each. Furthermore, his leadership prowess is underscored by holding the record for most wins as a captain in the IPL, tallying an impressive 133 victories, with Rohit Sharma trailing behind with 87 wins.

In the match against the SunRisers, Dhoni made a characteristic cameo appearance, entering the fray in the final over after Gaikwad’s dismissal for a commendable 98. Despite facing only two deliveries, Dhoni managed to score a boundary and secure a single, ending unbeaten on 5 off 2 balls, contributing to CSK’s formidable total of 212.

Dhoni’s impact extended beyond his batting, as he showcased his prowess behind the stumps, taking a catch during the match. Daryl Mitchell’s resurgence with a brisk half-century and five outfield catches further bolstered CSK’s dominance.

Known for his late-innings heroics, Dhoni has consistently delivered match-winning performances, exemplified by his recent blitz against Hardik Pandya, where he hammered three consecutive sixes to clinch victory for CSK against the Mumbai Indians.

With their comprehensive 78-run win over the SunRisers, CSK reclaimed a spot in the top four of the IPL standings, accumulating 10 points from nine matches and currently occupying the third position.
