The Kolkata High Court has ordered a significant development in the case regarding the Hills Teachers Eligibility Test (TET), mandating a CBI<\/a> investigation after a three-year hiatus. Judge Biswajit Basu issued a directive for the CBI to furnish a report on the matter within a fortnight. The case stems from the 2021 TET exam administered by the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA)<\/a> in the Darjeeling Hills, allegedly orchestrated with political support. Shockingly, the exam turned out to be fraudulent, with no results declared and no employment granted.

During the recent hearing on April 9, 2024, the Court addressed the legality of volunteer teachers\u2019 regulation as a separate issue, ordering the GTA to submit a comprehensive report on all volunteer teachers, including their educational qualifications. Despite the West Bengal government\u2019s reluctance to register the case, the court has issued a notice to Bidhannagar Police Station to explain the reasons for non-registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The petitioner, Sudhan Gurung, alleges over 1500 illegal appointments of government teachers, bypassing exams and legal procedures, and involving political leaders\u2019 relatives. Moreover, individuals who attempted the TET exam legitimately were reportedly deceived.
