Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang <\/a>inaugurated the remodeled Bhutia-Lepcha (BL)<\/a> House on Tibet Road<\/a>, Gangtok<\/a>, at an event attended by political leaders<\/a>, community members<\/a>, and dignitaries at Manan Kendra<\/a>. The newly restored BL House, first established by former Chief Minister Nar Bahadur Bhandari over three decades ago, stands as a symbol of the unity and cultural heritage of Sikkim\u2019s Bhutia and Lepcha communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chief Minister highlighted the state government\u2019s commitment to fostering inclusivity and cultural preservation. \u201cThe remodeled BL<\/a> House is more than just a building; it is a reflection of our commitment to upholding the heritage and cultural identity of the Bhutia and Lepcha communities<\/a>,\u201d Tamang said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Education Minister K.N. Lepcha<\/a> lauded CM Tamang\u2019s leadership, calling the renovation a \u201c monumental <\/a>step in preserving the cultural legacy of the Bhutia and Lepcha people.\u201d The restoration, he noted, provides a vibrant cultural hub<\/a> for the community, enabling members to reconnect with their heritage while adapting to modern needs. Public Health Engineering Minister Sonam Lama<\/a> described the event as \u201c a historic moment<\/a>\u201d for the Bhutia-Lepcha community, which comprises over 1.35 lakh people in Sikkim, adding, \u201cThe new BL House is a symbol of the strength, unity, and pride of our community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was deeply honored to be felicitated by the esteemed Bhutia-Lepcha<\/a> communities of Sikkim at Manan Kendra,\u201d he said, adding that the newly upgraded BL House includes amenities such as a multi-purpose hall to serve as a space for community gatherings and cultural events.
