This decision comes as the national capital grapples with hazardous air quality, with levels recorded at 424 in the \u201csevere\u201d category on Wednesday morning, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (<a href=\"https:\/\/cpcb.nic.in\/\">CPCB<\/a>).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/delhi.gov.in\/profile\/shri-gopal-rai\">Delhi Environment Minister <\/a>Gopal Rai confirmed the move in a post on <a href=\"https:\/\/thecord.in\/?p=3142\">social media<\/a>, stating, \u201cTo reduce pollution, the Delhi government decided to implement work from home in government offices. 50% of employees will work from home.\u201d He added that a meeting would be held at the Secretariat to discuss the implementation of this directive.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In response to the worsening <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pollution\">pollution<\/a>, Delhi Lieutenant Governor<a href=\"https:\/\/lg.delhi.gov.in\/lg-profile\"> VK Saxena <\/a>also directed staggered office timings for government employees. As per the revised schedules, <a href=\"https:\/\/mcdonline.nic.in\/\">Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD)<\/a> offices will function from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, while Delhi government offices will operate from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm. These new working hours will remain in effect until February 28, 2025.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The surge in pollution has triggered Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.drishtiias.com\/daily-updates\/daily-news-analysis\/graded-response-action-plan-3\">GRAP<\/a>), the most stringent set of measures aimed at addressing hazardous air quality. The response includes a ban on non-essential trucks and light commercial vehicles from outside the city, except those running on clean fuels such as <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Compressed_natural_gas\">CNG<\/a>, BS-VI diesel, or electricity.
