This early snowfall, occurring weeks before last year\u2019s December 7 event, has thrilled tourists and renewed optimism within the region\u2019s tourism sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The region, located along the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Singalila_Ridge\">Singalila Ridge<\/a> of the Himalayas, recorded snowfall of up to an inch by evening. According to local resident<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/testen.sherpa\/\"> Testen Sherpa<\/a>, who runs a homestay, the snowfall beautifully captures the romance of winter, and the place is currently swathed in a blanket of white.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tourists visiting <a href=\"https:\/\/thecord.in\/?p=3488\">Sandakphu<\/a> were equally ecstatic. \u201cWe came to Sandakphu without expecting snowfall in November. Everything looks so surreal suddenly\u2014it\u2019s beautiful,\u201d said Biswash Mondal, a tourist from Garia, <a href=\"https:\/\/thecord.in\/?p=3488\">Kolkata<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/anil_tamang_\/?hl=en\">Anil Tamang<\/a>, coordinator of the<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Singalila_Ridge\"> Singalila Land Rovers<\/a>\u2019 Owners\u2019 Association (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wordunscrambler.net\/unscramble\/slroa\">SLROA<\/a>), confirmed that the snowfall began around 2 p.m. but remained light throughout the day. \u201cThe Sandakphu region might receive snowfall again during the night. The roads are clear as of now, and the snow is expected to melt as soon as temperatures rise,\u201d he added. Approximately 200 tourists experienced the snowfall during the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/India_Meteorological_Department\">meteorological department<\/a> has predicted a continued dip in temperatures over the coming weeks, with a possibility of snow in the upper reaches of Darjeeling in the next two to three days. In <a href=\"https:\/\/thecord.in\/?p=3434\">Darjeeling <\/a>town, located about 70 km away, the minimum temperature dropped to 4.8 degrees Celsius on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sandakphu is renowned for its breathtaking views of peaks such as <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kangchenjunga\">Kanchenjunga<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mount_Everest\">Everest<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Makalu\"> Makalu<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lhotse\">Lhotse<\/a>, making it a popular destination during the winter season.
