The Chief Secretary of Sikkim, V.B. Pathak<\/a>, has initiated preparations for the state\u2019s 50th Statehood Day celebrations, scheduled for May 16, 2025. In a high-level meeting with senior officials, Pathak reviewed plans for the milestone event and the year-long activities that will follow, according to a government statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pathak emphasised the importance of seamless coordination among departments to ensure the success of the celebrations, describing the event as a \u201c historic milestone<\/a>\u201d for the state. \u201cThis is a momentous occasion for Sikkim. Every department must work collectively to showcase the progress and cultural heritage of our state,\u201d he said during the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To achieve this, specific responsibilities have been assigned to various government departments, with instructions for meticulous planning and execution of the events. The statement also revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi<\/a> is expected to be the chief guest for the grand function, which will take place in the state capital, Gangtok, on May 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The celebrations will feature a comprehensive agenda highlighting Sikkim\u2019s journey over the past five decades since its inclusion as the 22nd state of India in 1975. \u201cThis is not just a celebration of our past but also an opportunity to reflect on our future aspirations,\u201d Pathak added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
