These projects aim to transform lesser-known destinations into iconic attractions, reducing the strain on popular tourist spots while celebrating India\u2019s cultural and natural diversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/tourism.gov.in\/\"> Ministry of Tourism<\/a>, in collaboration with the Department of<a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.cambridge.org\/dictionary\/english\/expenditure\"> Expenditure<\/a>, finalised the projects after evaluating 87 proposals worth over \u20b98,000 crore submitted by the October 15, 2024, deadline. \u201cThe selected projects align with our goal to create impactful destinations that enhance the tourism experience and support local economies,\u201d a senior official stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Notable destinations chosen for development include <a href=\"https:\/\/sivasagar.assam.gov.in\/tourist-place-detail\/276\">Rang Ghar<\/a> in Sivasagar (Assam),<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Matsyagandha_Lake\"> Matsyagandha Lake<\/a> in Saharsa (Bihar), a proposed<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Town_square\"> Town Square<\/a> in Porvorim (Goa), and<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Orchha\"> Orchha <\/a>(Madhya Pradesh). The initiative offers states long-term, interest-free loans for up to 50 years to implement these projects, which encompass infrastructure upgrades and global branding efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/tourism.gov.in\/\">Ministry of Tourism<\/a> emphasised the initiative\u2019s focus on easing congestion at overburdened tourist hubs while fostering sustainable growth. \u201cBy highlighting lesser-known destinations, we aim to alleviate pressure on high-traffic sites and provide visitors with a richer, more diverse travel experience,\u201d a ministry spokesperson explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to boosting tourism, the projects are expected to generate employment opportunities and stimulate local economies. The ministry stressed that sustainability would remain central to these developments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>States have been given a two-year deadline to complete the projects, with the funds to be disbursed by March 2026.
