In a major push toward modernizing sports infrastructure, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang inaugurated an Automatic Pop-up Rain Gun Irrigation System at the Sikkim Cricket Association (SCA) Ground in Mining, Rangpo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new system is designed to maintain the cricket ground with greater efficiency, ensuring better water management, reduced manual labor, and consistent field conditions for professional-level matches. It marks a significant step in aligning the state\u2019s sports facilities with national standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The launch event was graced by Chief Justice Biswanath Sommader of the High Court of Sikkim, who attended as the chief guest. Following the inauguration, a friendly exhibition match was held, featuring local players, officials, and CM Tamang himself \u2014 a symbolic gesture highlighting the importance of accessible and well-maintained sports grounds in nurturing young talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CM Tamang emphasized that the introduction of such technology is part of a broader vision to develop sports at the grassroots level in Sikkim. \u201cModern infrastructure is key to building future champions. This system not only saves resources but also creates a professional environment for our athletes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Justice Sommader echoed the sentiment, stating, \u201cInfrastructure like this doesn\u2019t just support the game \u2014 it inspires young people to dream big and take sports seriously.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials from the Sikkim Cricket Association noted that the automated irrigation system will enhance ground maintenance year-round, supporting both domestic tournaments and future plans to host national-level events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
