Siliguri’s Kanchenjunga Stadium welcomes second edition of the Silliguri Challengers Trophy cricket tournament

Siliguri’s Kanchenjungha Stadium is once again buzzing with cricket fever as the city’s prominent club, Swastika Yubak Sangha, gears up to host the Siliguri Challengers Trophy 2 in the style of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Siliguri Challengers Trophy, inaugurated by Siliguri mayor Gautam Deb on Wednesday, promises an extravaganza under floodlights.

This anticipated event marks the return of cricket to the Kanchenjungha Stadium, with organizers expecting a grand affair. Twelve teams, including representatives from Siliguri, Jalpaiguri, Nepal, Sikkim, and the Northeast Frontier Railway, will vie for victory in this second edition.

The tournament’s schedule features a mix of afternoon and evening matches, with four games starting at 1 pm and eight floodlit encounters beginning at 6 pm. The climax is set for May 15, with the final match promising an electrifying showdown.

Manoj Verma, the cricket secretary of Siliguri Mahakuma Krira Parishad, expressed optimism, citing the success of last year’s inaugural edition. This year, organizers have introduced new attractions and arrangements, aiming for an even more triumphant event.

As anticipation builds and cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the action, the Siliguri Challengers Trophy promises to captivate audiences with its blend of sporting excellence and entertainment.
