Tribal Woman Assaulted, Forced to Eat Feces in Odisha

Date:

A horrific incident occurred in Odisha’s Bolangir district, where a 20-year-old tribal woman was allegedly assaulted and forced to eat human feces by a non-tribal man. The attack took place on November 16 in Jurabandha village, located in the Bangamunda police station area.

According to the police, the accused was operating a tractor on the woman’s agricultural land, causing damage to her crops. When she protested, the man physically assaulted her and forced human feces into her mouth. The woman’s aunt, who attempted to intervene, was also assaulted by the accused.

The incident has sparked outrage, particularly among the tribal community, with accusations of police inaction. Biju Janata Dal MP Niranjan Bisi expressed concern over the lack of immediate action from the authorities and warned that further deterioration of law and order in the area would be the state government’s responsibility.

Bolangir Superintendent of Police Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo confirmed that the accused had fled the scene after the attack. Police have formed two special teams and have sent personnel to neighboring states in an attempt to apprehend him. The police are optimistic about making an arrest soon.

The authorities have registered a case under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act in connection with the assault.

The distressing incident was also captured on video, showing the woman recounting her ordeal, which has sparked widespread outrage and calls for swift justice. Local residents and activists have demanded immediate action to ensure justice for the victim and bring the accused to justice.
