Blaming Congress: Manipur CM holds party accountable for state’s unrest

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh of Manipur squarely blamed the Congress party for the region’s unrest, citing “appeasement politics” as the cause. Singh asserted that if the Congress had prioritized border security by fencing during their tenure, Manipur wouldn’t be facing the current crisis.

Singh’s comments followed Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit, where Shah discussed border security, the Free Movement Regime (FMR), and illegal immigration. Singh praised Shah’s dedication to preserving Manipur’s unity and integrity under BJP’s leadership.

During his address to a large audience, Amit Shah portrayed the ongoing Lok Sabha election as more than a political contest between BJP and Congress. He framed it as a fight against forces threatening Manipur’s unity, emphasizing the region’s stability as crucial for national progress.

Shah declared, “The destiny of the country will change when that of the northeast and Manipur will change,” underscoring the significance of the region’s stability.
