Historic Breakthrough: Sikkim Women’s Cricket Team Clinches Maiden BCCI National Title

The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Sikkim Women’s Cricket Team for their outstanding performance and victory in the Plate Division of the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2025–26, organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

This landmark achievement marks Sikkim’s first-ever national title in cricket, representing a historic moment for the state’s sporting community. The women’s team delivered an unbeaten performance throughout the tournament, showcasing exceptional levels of skill, teamwork, and determination.

The Chief Minister commended not only the players but also acknowledged the vital contributions of the support staff and the Sikkim Cricket Association (SCA) for their strategic planning, training, and guidance that played a pivotal role in the team’s success.

He noted that this victory brings immense pride to the people of Sikkim, and reflects the growing potential of athletes from the state, especially in national-level competitions. The Chief Minister also reaffirmed the state government’s continued commitment to supporting sports infrastructure, talent development, and capacity-building across all sporting disciplines in Sikkim.

“This triumph will inspire countless young athletes across the state and prove that with the right support and determination, success at the national level is achievable,” the Chief Minister stated.
