Darjeeling Achieves UPSC Milestone: Trio Makes History with Outstanding Civil Services Success

Three candidates from Darjeeling have cracked the prestigious UPSC Civil Services Examination, marking a first for the district. Jayasree Pradhan, Goutam Thakuri, and Ajay Moktan have etched their names in the annals of Darjeeling’s academic history with their remarkable performances.

Leading the trio is Jayasree Pradhan, a 25-year-old resident of Darjeeling town, who secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 52. Jayasree, an alumna of Loreto Convent, Darjeeling, pursued her law degree in Bengaluru after securing 91% in her ICSE. Her dedication and perseverance led her to success on her second attempt at the UPSC examination. Speaking to The Telegraph, Jayasree attributed her interest in civil services to the intertwined nature of law and administration.

Joining Jayasree in this momentous achievement are Goutam Thakuri from Bagdogra and Ajay Moktan from MN Terai tea garden. Goutam, 23, secured an AIR of 391, while Ajay, 26, achieved an AIR of 464. Goutam, who pursued his education across various cities including Bengaluru and Delhi, expressed his gratitude to his family and credited online coaching for his success. Ajay’s journey to success was marked by perseverance, as he cleared the examination on his fifth attempt, highlighting his unwavering determination.

The success of these three youths has sparked jubilation across Darjeeling, with the entire community celebrating their achievements. Their triumph not only reflects their individual dedication but also serves as a testament to the academic prowess of the region. As Darjeeling revels in this historic milestone, efforts are underway to delve deeper into their profiles and share their inspiring stories with the world.
