The third phase of India’s general election encompasses 93 Lok Sabha constituencies across 12 states and UTs. Following the first two phases held on April 19 and 26, where 191 constituencies went to the polls, the turnout averaged 66.14% and 66.71%, respectively.
This phase witnesses polling in Chhattisgarh (7 seats), Goa (2 seats), Gujarat (25 seats), Karnataka (14 seats), along with seats from Assam, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. Additionally, the union territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu will also vote.
Gujarat’s Surat Constituency saw the BJP’s Mukesh Dalal elected unopposed, marking the party’s initial victory in the 2024 general election.
With 1,351 candidates contesting, nominations for this phase started on April 12 and concluded on April 19. The remaining 295 constituencies will vote in four subsequent phases, with counting scheduled for June 4 across all 543 constituencies in India.
