1O-Day road closure in Pakyong district: Traffic regulation order implementation for road enhancement

Date:

The Senior Superintendent of Police, Pakyong District, has enacted a Traffic Regulation Order under section 159(2) of “The Sikkim Police Act, 2008,” concerning the forthcoming geometric enhancement of the road stretch from St. Xavier’s School, Pakyong, to Bhanu Turning on Airport Road, Pakyong. Scheduled to take effect from 11th May 2024 to 20th May 2024, the order will be in operation from 8 PM to 6 AM during this period.

Construction activities aimed at improving the road conditions are set to begin on 11th May 2024 and will continue until 20th May 2024, spanning the aforementioned nighttime hours. To facilitate the seamless progress of construction work and ensure the safety of all involved, all types of vehicles will be restricted from traveling along the specified stretch during these times.

Commuters utilizing the Pakyong – Rorathang Highway are advised to seek alternate routes during the restricted hours. Two suggested alternative routes include traveling through the Pakyong Highway-Tokchi Fatak (Near St. Xavier School) – Upper Samsing-Pachey Road-Pakyong Bazar Traffic Point or opting for the Andheri Fatak – Basilakha Road-Rai Gaon-Pakyong Thana Fatak route and vice versa.

Authorities urge all commuters to adhere strictly to the specified dates and timings outlined in the Traffic Regulation Order to mitigate inconvenience and ensure the smooth flow of traffic throughout the construction period.
