‘It’s Time to Recalibrate and Return Home’: Vikrant Massey Announces Break from Acting to Focus on Personal Life

Date:

In a surprising announcement, acclaimed actor Vikrant Massey declared on December 1 that he is taking a hiatus from films, leaving fans and the industry shocked. The actor shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the support he has received throughout his career and explaining his decision to step away from the spotlight to focus on his personal life.

“The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support,” Massey wrote. He continued, “As I move forward, I realise it’s time to recalibrate and return home—as a husband, father, & son. And also as an actor. So, in 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right.”

In his post, Massey revealed that he has two films left to release—Yaar Jigri and Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyaan—marking the conclusion of his current cinematic journey.

The announcement comes at the peak of Massey’s career. The actor recently received the prestigious Indian Film Personality of the Year award at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. His portrayal of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail garnered widespread acclaim, with the film becoming a major hit in 2023.

Massey’s subsequent releases, Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba and The Sabarmati Report, further solidified his reputation as a versatile actor. Notably, The Sabarmati Report, a film centred on the Godhra train incident, received critical acclaim and was declared tax-free in several states. The film also earned commendations from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, a rare acknowledgment in Indian cinema.

Although Massey’s announcement suggests a temporary break, it has left his future in cinema uncertain. His fans, however, will be eagerly awaiting his final two films and holding out hope for his eventual return to the industry.

“Thank you again. For everything and everything in between,” Massey concluded his Instagram post, reiterating his gratitude and his love for his craft.
