Siliguri is set to host the much-awaited Natyotsav 2024, a five-day theatre festival scheduled from December 13 to December 17. Organised by the Uttarbanga Sanskritik Parishad in collaboration with the North Bengal Cultural Council, the event aims to promote theatre and celebrate Siliguri’s cultural heritage as a vibrant artistic hub.
Announcing the festival, Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb said, “We will celebrate the festival from December 13, which will also act as a preparatory event as we move towards our silver jubilee in 2025.” He further emphasised that the festival will showcase performances from renowned theatre groups based in Kolkata and neighbouring regions.
Prominent theatre groups such as Naihati Bratyajan Production, Malda Theatre Platform, and Rangakarmee Kolkata are expected to perform, ensuring a diverse and engaging program. “Our aim is to ignite public interest in theatre and ensure its continued presence as a celebrated art form in the region,” Mayor Deb added.
The festival’s lineup includes performances such as Dadar Kirti by Naihati Bratyajan on December 13, followed by Jagaran Pala by Malda Theatre Platform. Subsequent days will feature plays like Abhi Raat Baki Hai by Rangakarmee, Romeo and Juliet by Anya Theatre, and Macbeth by Shorobhuj, all based in Kolkata.
