NHIDCL Issues Notice Banning All Heavy Vehicles On NH10 After 29th Mile Collapse

Date:

Gangtok, October 11, 2025:
The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has announced a temporary ban on heavy vehicle movement along National Highway 10 following the collapse of a bench section at 29th Mile. The restriction came into effect from 12:00 AM on October 11 and will continue until 6:00 PM on October 14, or until further notice.

The move aims to ensure public safety and allow smooth progress of repair and restoration works on the affected stretch. NH-10 is a critical highway that connects Sikkim to the rest of India, playing a vital role in both commercial and private transportation.

While heavy vehicles are prohibited during this period, light vehicles are allowed to travel with caution. Authorities have urged all transporters and travelers to plan their movements accordingly to avoid disruptions.

The local administration and road maintenance teams have already been deployed to carry out emergency repairs. Officials have stated that the road will be reopened to all traffic only after it is deemed safe for passage. Travelers are advised to monitor official bulletins and local advisories for the latest updates.
