NDRF rescues 6 from Landslide at Under-Construction District Collector Office in Pakyong; No Casualties

At the District Collector (DC) Office under construction in Pakyong, Sikkim, a landslide occurred on Thursday afternoon. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) moved quickly to mitigate the damage. Six individuals were successfully evacuated from the debris without any casualties reported.

The incident occurred suddenly, covering the construction site with debris and endangering the lives of the workers present. The NDRF’s prompt intervention was crucial in rescuing those trapped. According to Inspector Arun Kumar Gautam of the 2nd Battalion, NDRF Haringhata, all six individuals were safely evacuated, highlighting the effectiveness of the disaster response team’s efforts.

Despite the potentially life-threatening situation, the evacuation was conducted smoothly, and all individuals involved were reported to be in stable condition. The NDRF’s rapid response underscores the importance of preparedness and timely intervention in mitigating the impact of natural disasters.

This incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of construction in mountainous regions and the necessity for stringent safety protocols to protect workers from similar occurrences in the future.
