Meira Paibis from across Manipur have come together to protest against the potential arrest of Arambai Tenggol leader Korounganba Khuman. This is the latest ongoing 19-month conflict in Manipur.
The Meira Paibis, a group of women activists, have urged authorities not to arrest Korounganba Khuman, who is facing charges related to attacks on police and arms loot.
During a joint press conference, representatives of the Meira Paibis emphasised that Arambai Tenggol and village volunteers are not insurgents or terrorists. They argued that these groups have taken on the responsibility of defending Meitei villages from Kuki aggression, as the government has failed to protect the lives and property of its citizens.
The Meira Paibis have condemned the FIR filed against Korounganba Khuman and have demanded that the government withdraw its actions against him. They have also appealed to the authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens in Manipur.
This is not the first time that the Meira Paibis have spoken out against violence and injustice in Manipur. In recent months, they have been actively involved in promoting peace and unity in the state.
The ongoing conflict in Manipur has resulted in the loss of many lives, including those of Meitei civilians, women, and children. The Meira Paibis have been at the forefront of efforts to promote peace and justice in the state.
