West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, speaking at an Eid-ul-Fitr gathering at Red Road, reiterated her opposition to the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC), and Uniform Civil Code, firmly stating her refusal to implement them in the state. Emphasizing unity and harmony, she urged people to resist divisive agendas during elections.
Banerjee condemned any efforts to stoke religious tensions, pledging to the art attempts to incite riots. She criticized alleged intimidation tactics by central government agencies against opposition leaders and citizens, asserting that such methods wouldn’t deter her from fighting for people’s rights.
Accusing the BJP of trying to sway Muslim leaders with offers during elections, Banerjee highlighted Bengal’s peaceful coexistence across religious lines. Amid reiterating the Trinamool Congress’s opposition to the BJP, she stressed the importance of voter support for the TMC’s victory in West Bengal. Accompanied by her nephew and TMC national general secretary, Abhishek Banerjee, she emphasized defending secular values and fostering communal harmony.
