Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh extended greetings, hailing the Constitution as the cornerstone of a “strong and self-reliant India.” Singh paid homage to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and other contributors, stating on social media platform X, “The Indian Constitution has laid the foundation for a new India.”
President Droupadi Murmu addressed Members of Parliament in the Central Hall of Parliament, reflecting on the enduring legacy of the Constitution adopted 75 years ago. In her speech, she emphasised its importance in guiding India’s democratic values and ensuring citizens rights.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in celebrations at the Supreme Court Auditorium, where he unveiled a commemorative coin and stamp honouring the landmark anniversary. The event also saw the release of the annual Indian Judiciary report for 2023–24. PM Modi lauded the judiciary’s contributions to upholding the Constitution, while a short film showcased its historical significance.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and other dignitaries attended the event, which included the release of two books: Making of the Constitution of India: A Glimpse and Making of the Constitution of India & Its Glorious Journey. For the first time, Sanskrit and Maithili versions of the Constitution were launched to promote its accessibility.
Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Pushkar Singh Dhami echoed the sentiments of the day, underscoring the Constitution’s role as the “protector of citizens’ rights and dignity.” In Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi led a padayatra and paid floral tributes to Dr. Ambedkar in Bhubaneswar, highlighting the Constitution’s impact on state and national progress. Constitution Day, observed annually on November 26, commemorates the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1949.
