The Government of Sikkim has launched a new cohort-based entrepreneurship programme aimed at empowering local entrepreneurs through mentorship, training, and funding support. The initiative was officially inaugurated at the Digital Nomad Village in Yakten, and is being spearheaded by the District Administrative Centre (DAC) Pakyong in collaboration with Nomad Village.
The programme seeks to strengthen Sikkim’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by focusing on innovation and sustainability. It brings together both emerging and established entrepreneurs from across the state for intensive problem-solving sessions, supported by experts in technology, marketing, finance, and design.
The event featured interactive sessions where participants shared business challenges and ideas, while mentors provided actionable insights and discussed available support systems for sustainable business growth.
Member of Parliament Indra Hang Subba, who addressed the gathering, emphasised Sikkim’s potential in agriculture, tourism, biodiversity, and natural resource management. He advocated for the expansion of such initiatives to every district. District Collector Rohan Agawane praised the programme for nurturing local innovation and entrepreneurial talent.
Notable experts such as Dr Nitin Kareer and Dr Vandana Nadig Nair also participated, sharing valuable mentorship. The initiative aligns with the state’s vision under the “One Family One Entrepreneur” mission to promote inclusive economic development.
