The Superintendent of Police in Soreng District has announced a temporary restriction on vehicle movement along the Soreng to Zoom stretch of State Highway 26 (SH-26). This move is part of an ongoing road widening project aimed at improving traffic flow and ensuring commuter safety.
According to the official notification, the Soreng via Zoom route will be completely closed to all vehicular traffic starting October 20, 2025. The restriction period will last for one month, from October 24 to November 24, 2025, and will be in effect daily from 8 AM to 8 PM, excluding Sundays. This closure affects all types of vehicles, including two-wheelers, light vehicles, and heavy vehicles.
Motorists and commuters are advised to use alternate routes during this time to avoid inconvenience. Suggested detours include Soreng to Jorethang via Malbasey-Budang State Highway (SH-28), Chakung to Jorethang via Gelling-Sawligoan-Baiguney PMGSY Road, and Chakung to Jorethang via Chumbung to 5th Mile Budang (SH-27).
Authorities urge the public to cooperate fully to ensure the smooth and timely completion of the road widening work, which is expected to enhance road safety and connectivity in the region.
