BJP Files FCC Violation Complaint Against SKM Amidts Students Claims of Neglect and Threats

Date:

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sikkim has lodged a police complaint against the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) over an alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during an event. The complaint was filed at Gangtok’s Sadar Thana on Monday, following an SKM Students’ Outreach Event held at Manan Kendra, Gangtok, on Sunday.

The BJP has accused the SKM of compromising the safety and security of student attendees at the event. The complaint was submitted by several prominent BJP figures, including their Lok Sabha candidate for Sikkim, Dinesh Chandra Nepal, Niren Bhandari from Upper Tadong Assembly Constituency, and Lalit Pokhrel, BJP’s Star Campaigner.

On April 14, the SKM Party organised a four-hour long political outreach event for students from various colleges and universities across Sikkim. The event was attended by SKM President Prem Singh Tamang, CM Tamang, SKM’s Lok Sabha Candidate Dr Indra Hang Subba, and other SKM leaders.

After the event, several students raised concerns about the lack of basic facilities provided by the organisers. They reported that no accommodation, food, or water was arranged for them. Additionally, some students claimed they were given cash amounts of Rs 10,000 each, while others alleged, they faced humiliation and threats during the event.
