CBI Raids at 2 TMC Leaders’ Residences in Connection with BJP Worker’s Murder

Date:

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried out raids at the residences of two Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders in Kathi, Purba Medinipur district, West Bengal, on May 17. These raids are part of an ongoing investigation into the killing of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker during post-poll violence in 2021. The individuals targeted in the raids are Debabrata Panda and Nandadulal Maiti, both associated with TMC Block no. 3.

According to CBI sources, these raids are directly connected to the murder of Janmejay Dolui, a BJP worker. Debabrata Panda, Nandadulal’s son, and 52 others have been cited in the FIR linked to this tragic incident. Janmejay Dolui lost his life amidst the unrest that ensued after the 2021 assembly polls.

Despite summoning 30 individuals for questioning in connection with the case, none responded. Consequently, the CBI has initiated raids at locations associated with these individuals, stressing the importance of interviewing them regarding the ongoing investigation.
