Four Athletes From Sikkim Selected For Junior National Athletics Championship

Gangtok, October 9, 2025 — The Sikkim Athletic Association has proudly announced the selection of four young athletes to represent the state at the upcoming 40th Junior National Athletics Championship, scheduled to be held from October 10 to 14, 2025, in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

Organized by the Athletic Federation of India (AFI), this prestigious national-level event brings together the country’s top junior athletes to compete in various track and field disciplines. The selected athletes from Sikkim have successfully qualified under the AFI’s Targeted Selection and Ranking (TSR) criteria.

The team comprises athletes across both Under-18 and Under-20 categories for boys and girls, showcasing the promising athletic talent emerging from the state. The contingent will be led by manager-cum-coach Chandra Maya Das, who will provide guidance and support to the athletes throughout the championship.

This selection marks a significant achievement for Sikkim’s athletics scene, and expectations are high as the young athletes prepare to take on some of the best junior competitors from across India.

The Sikkim Athletic Association extended its best wishes to the team, expressing confidence in their ability to make the state proud on the national stage.
